A pared down version of Office has been released by Microsoft for the iPhone. It has not released the same for iPads, maintaining that it wants to boost the sales of tablets that run its own Windows system; first.
Office is not sold separately for the iPhone. Instead it comes as part of an Office 365 subscription retailing at $100. You can use office on five additional Mac or Windows computers. Microsoft is looking at increasing subscriptions by this type of a package.
Experts skeptical on this move.
But many people would prefer to work on Office on a larger screen like a tablet. Thus shrewd analysts are commenting that delaying a tablet version will hurt Microsoft and benefit the competitors. They are also apprehensive on whether enough subscriptions will come through for this new offering. The app also doesn’t offer the same features as the one on desktops.
