European Union’s foreign policy chief said on Monday that the new foreign minister of Iran is all set to join the talks with six key nations that are attempting to contain the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program in the United Nations later this week.
US-Iran Relations Might be thawing
The meeting which is to be held on Thursday and comes on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly would be the first in six years between the US Secretary of State and Iran’s foreign minister. The upcoming talks indicate that the relations between US and Iran, which have remained frozen since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, might be thawing after all.
After meeting Iran’s foreign minister, Catherine Ashton, the chief nuclear negotiator said that JavedZarif had the ‘energy and determination’ to hold discussions on the nuclear issue with the US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany.
