Motorola’s low cost smartphones hit the US market ahead of target schedule, in time for the holiday season.
In time for holiday shopping season
The device wasn’t supposed to arrive in the US until January, but Motorola is already starting to take orders for shipping.
The Moto G was made available on the company’s website at an off price deal starting at $179.
At $179 off contract, the Moto G is quite the deal for those cost-conscious consumers.
In a blog post, Motorola said they’re giving consumers “plenty of mobile goodness to gobble up this holiday season” as it started sales just ahead of the Thanksgiving Day.
The surprise launch comes ahead of the company’s previous target of getting the Moto G out in the US by January.
Motorola was able to ramp up the manufacturing process quicker than expected. It was also able to get the website up faster, allowing the early launch of the smartphone.
The new phone is a low cost version of the Moto X, which lacks some features such as a high density camera and access to the fastest networks.
