Study employment laws

An employment law certificate on your CV is an advantage when applying for human resource management. Legal action may be the last layer of conflict resolution within any organization, but it is a vital one. Laws for COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, Retirement Plans, Payroll, and hiring are just some of the statutes you should be well-versed in as an HR practitioner. Wrongful termination alone can cause an organization thousands of dollars in settlement.

Train yourself in managing human relations

You can do this by getting a degree in Psychology or signing up for training. The strategy for handling personality differences, cultural biases, and other common sources of interpersonal conflict is one of the toughest components of human resource management. Traditional education in Psychology is highly valuable, but do seek out supplementary lectures that are available online as well.
